High in the mountains of Mexico, are pine forests that drop huge (18 inch) needles. These needles are not biodegradable and become the source of many forest fires. Artisans native to that area gather them to reduce excessive accumulation, and then they clean and weave them into beautiful, elegant basketry such as this one. Many of the pieces are trimmed by different Mexican artisans with sand cast nickel, giving them the look of polished silver that never has to be polished. This square serving bowl has a glass liner that measures approximately 10 inches square and 4¾ inches deep. Imported
